Welcome Winter
I wrote this non-denominational Winter Holidays song in 2006 for my son’s 2nd grade class. Sung by then-seven-year-old Moss Woodbury, it celebrates the yin-yang of dark and light.

The Green Shade
One of my old art-pop songs, for some perspective.
Sounds like Franz Schubert, Steve Reich and UK Le Guin if she wrote music. To listen on your computer for free:

Listen to this powerful Instant Healing (7 minutes).

@myke – wow, I didn’t even know that bootleg existed! Thx for letting me know!
I’m probably on that cassette coz I did some vocals on TMBG’s Apollo 18 (“please pass the milk please” and “hey now everybody”)
Here’s my other music from that era, those bygone Brooklyn days o’ the distant 20th century,:

Hopefully new music coming soon… It’s been festering / fermenting for a while!
Strangely, I got a copy of “The Green Shade” on a They Might Be Giants bootleg cassette many, many years ago, and I’ve been enchanted by that hissy, nth-generation cassette ever since. What a delight to find this MP3 here. Thank you so much! I’d love to hear more of your material from this era … perhaps a compilation?
Your music, your son’s fresh and innocent voice, the lyrics and your consciousness make for the most nourishing sound-soup of the season! Abundant gratitude for your presence on the web!
Just listened to “Welcome Winter”. How beautiful! So sweet, pure, and powerful!!!! Thank you, Elma and Moss, for that lovely gift.
Thanks so much for welcome winter! I was hoping/waiting for it. & I LOVE the Green Shade. You are good!!!!
Welcome Winter
Thankyou Elma for sharing!!What beautiful lights We All Are!
WELCOME WINTER: This little voice is beyond precious! We have a five year old in our family and I will use this as a teaching tool, good food for thought for a child to “get a sense of things” for how our Universe works. I loved the freshness of the enunciation and the enthusiasm and vigor of this young untouched expression.
THE GREEN SHADE: Took me on a total sentimental journey from my CA home back to my hometown of Vancouver, B.C. I loved mention of all the colors, I felt like it was me on the journey every step of the way through the song. I resonated with every line, like I’d been there done that! QUIRKY, REFRESHING AND HEALING!

Thank you so much for sharing that song, Elma! It definitely brings “alignment” into what really is important. Pass it down!
