The Myth of the Healing Modality

The Myth of the Healing Modality (as the thing that does the healing)

Scroll down to see my own personal issue with “modality duality”!

In the world of energy medicine, energy healing, and consciousness technologies, there’s often a misguided focus on finding the best healing modality or method.

On one extreme, “Modality junkies” quest endlessly for the next healing method, even more powerful than the last, that will finally fix everything and save the world.

On the other, “True believers” insist that their ultimate one-and-only healing modality supersedes every other method.

The truth is not anywhere on that continuum.

While different healing modalities might have their own singular cool tools, valuable variations, and inspiring insights… and while some are more effective, faster, deeper, or wider than others…. the bottom line is:

The Healing Modality is NOT what Heals.

Modality means “The way in which something happens or exists.” Like a mode of transportation, or a modal scale in music, there is not just one. And there is not one single, best, all-purpose theory-of-everything method. Because methods, by definition, are the means to an end, not the end itself. Modalities can only be pathways to the larger field of Healing with a capital H.

Why not go directly for Healing itself…

… instead of seeking the middleman of modality?

When playing in the field of Healing, we may experience different means, modes, colors, frequencies, tools, thought-forms, and Eureka moments. But let’s not confuse the car with the journey, the musical mode with the song, the means with the end, or the modality with the Healing.

Healing Happens when the Parts Align with the Larger Whole

Healing is opening to the flow of Wholeness, regardless of modality. And the best modalities also flow, in and of themselves. They are not strictly fixed and codified – they morph to fit the circumstance, and the user. They evolve over time.

Wholeness itself is not codified or static. It is always expanding, to more and more Wholeness.

So beware of getting caught up in the worship of modality, and of fixed forms of healing. If they do not course-correct, then after a while, they accumulate error (or ego) and they veer off their true course.

Mastery vs. Alignment

Mastery of a modality can distort Healing, if it becomes ossified, like a bone of dogma. And “Mastery” itself is an old-paradigm form, like patriarchy, proselytizing, and power over the peons.

Healing does not require mastery over anyone or anything. Don’t buy into the duality of mastery (which implies that the master is more valuable than the apprentice, or worse yet, the slave). Instead of mastery, opt for Alignment.

Healing happens when there is congruency and connection, not just craft and control. And that connection can happen at the speed of light, whereas mastery takes time. True mastery (the kind that no one can simply bestow upon you) cannot happen without Alignment, whereas Alignment does not require mastery. In its highest expression, Aligned mastery transcends duality and modality.

Ultimately, the Highest Healing Modality…

… is your own Aligned mode – your own flavor, color, and spin – and your own fractal patterns, which are always expanding into more and more Wholeness in all directions.

But wait… isn’t Now Healing a “Modality”?

In one sense, yes, it can function as a modality that you can “Do.” But it’s primarily a state of “Being” that you can enter through the portal of “modality” – being in a non-local space of Instant Wholeness. Now Healing is a flowing, morphing, morphic field – a non-static state of Alignment.

If the tools and techniques and “modality” that have precipitated out of that field can be inspiring, expanding, helpful, and healing for you – if they can transport you into a space of Wholeness – that’s fantastic and grand, and I’m glad, because that’s the Whole point.

So feel free to use Now Healing as a modality, study it if you like, practice it, get facility with it… but then… zoom out of the smaller field of “modality” and let go into the larger field.

Rather than merely “Mastering the Modality”, transcend the duality of modality. Allow both the mastery and the modality to disappear into tiny specks in the vast healing space.

So… Why even have a Practitioner Training Program?

Isn’t it a paradox? Yes! “All of the above” is why I’m phasing out the Now Healing Practitioner Training Program – even thought it’s a damn good program! People are loving it… Here’s what one person said:

The NH Practitioner Training Program is…

Such an incredible asset… an encyclopedia of  the most life changing energy alignments!

It’s more than I ever dreamt I could have access to in this life.”

But even though people love this program… I’ve been torn and conflicted. On the one hand, people were clamoring for a Now Healing Certified Practitioner program. And I saw huge value and much-needed information in the training, teachings, and Alignments that I could provide, to help healers move farther into their highest expression.

On the other hand, I did not want to be a “Master” with disciples. Instead, I simply wanted to teach healers how to plug into their own power source, and access Healing directly. I wanted them to be their own darn guru, because that’s not what I signed up for! (Which is why the Practitioner Training Program culminates in a “Self-Test”.)

So, after a rough couple of years in my personal life, with the stress of taking care of my elderly mother, I was guided to simplify my business. I had to focus on what I was 100% congruent with, and let go of the rest. I was congruent with empowering people to heal themselves and others in a direct, instant Alignment – bypassing “certified mastery”.

Note that I am totally congruent with the content of this training program, because it has been Disentangled from the Wizard-of-Oz-style granting of diplomas willy-nilly. But what I’m not congruent with any longer, is being a modality that grants Certification – even Aligned Certification – and even one that Aligned people desire to have. Because, ultimately…

Now Healing is not about mastery, modality or method.
It’s about instant Alignment.

So that’s why this is the last call

… for the Certified Practitioner Training Program!

Even though there is a ton of inspired information in this program (that is hugely useful for folks who want to expand their healing business, client attraction, and the nuts and bolts of how to actually do a healing practice) the program itself being phased out this year.

If you are one of those folks…

  • who understands the paradox of a Certification program which transcends the need for Certification and mastery
  • who desires as much information as possible about how to actually DO a healing practice, as well as BE your highest healer
  • for whom a lovely Certificate hanging on your wall would be truly beneficial for your practice…

… then please check out the
Certified Practitioner Training Program – Details (and Caveats!)
The last day to enroll is January 15 2016.

Thank you for putting into such eloquent words what I have believed for so long – especially the “master” explanation…
    Blessings

I love your explanation. I’ve benefitted from your “style”. Total respect and admiration of you. In Wholeness 🙂

I love hearing from your free-thinking mind, Elma! I am doing the NH 101 course now (rather slowly, but resonating with its expansiveness and already incorporating it). Are some parts of this package going to be offered into the future, such as the Tools for Transformation seminars? How would you say they fit into your evolving views? Have a beautifully aligned and congruent year, Elma!

Elma, what you are saying in totally brilliant and in my reality, totally true. Thank you for sharing this very honest and insightful perspective. It’s all too easy to get lost in buying into a process rather than letting go into the mystery, as Van Morrison wisely shared with us a long time ago…

I love your integrity! And I agree with the soul of this – thinking pretty much the same sort of thing myself recently. – someone once asked me how I mixed homeopathy with allopathic medicine and the answer I found was – you dont mix them in the consulting room you mix them in the practitoner – each modality has its gift and way but none has the monopoly on truth. it is about wholeness. Well said Aunty Elma!

@Rich, thanks for asking! I’m phasing it out over the next year because there are still folks going through the program, and other folks who have let me know that they intend to enroll because they want the specific content inside the program, not just “the piece of paper”.

  8. Rich on January 6, 2016 at 2:22 pm

Why not just stop it now ? Sounds like that would be best for everybody including yourself !

Just fantastic! So nice to have this articulated so thoroughly Elma. I have been noticing some genuine crankiness over the task of sorting through all the modalities I have accrued over the years…the truth is they were all made up by the folks who created them who are not me. I was doing myself a disservice trying to adopt their way of seeing in order to get results. Wholeness doesn’t need any of that window dressing – it just is. I have found that for the most part, using a technique tends to impede healing more than promote it. Healing is more of an instant recognition, doesn’t rely on any form. How refreshing to hear all this!
